the artist collection || Lindsay Letters Co.
I met Lindsay last year at Magnolia’s Christmas at the Silo’s. We were huddled together beneath plastic tent roofs, watching the rain fall in the cold when we talked about the potential for a collaboration. Over the course of a few months, we were able to create the design for our Artist Collection launch (click here to purchase) set for October.
It’s only appropriate that our theme for this launch is all about “sticking together.” From the first moment I met Lindsay, she reminded me of those close girlfriends mom's feel known and safe with. Those girlfriends that show up at your door with coffee because in your text the night before you had finally admitted, “I’m just so tired.” The girlfriends that listen to your paranoid worries and fears you have for your children and nod while reaching out a comforting hand to reassure you that it will all be okay. The girlfriends who love your family, your children as their own and laugh with you at the hilarity of parenting mishaps.
In her novel, “A Life For a Life,” I believe Dinah Maria Mulock Craik captures the true essence of what it means to stick together as women and as moms.
”But oh! The blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one’s deepest as well as one’s most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away.”
In a world where connectedness looks more like an instagram follow or facebook like instead of intentional time together, we hope this design inspires you to be grateful for those, friends and family, who stick close to you and that you feel encouraged to be that friend to others. We can become so overwhelmed with busy lives and busy schedules, that we find ourselves feeling lonely and in need of that person or friend to come along and say, “I see you” or “hey, me too!”
Friends, when we stick together with friends and family, our laughter is louder, our joy is brighter, and our love is larger than when we ever stand alone. CLICK HERE to get your sweater now!
